Release Candidate, call for testing

Hey everyone,

As you may know, this week we will release Hardy's Release Candidate which is the last build before final.
RC is due for release on this Thursday (17th of April) and final a week after (24th of April).

In order to give you the best tested and stable release of Ubuntu ever, we are currently looking for testers.
If you want to help, please join #ubuntu-testing on irc.freenode.net where we will be hanging the whole week coordinating testing.

Pick the one you prefer or ask for one in #ubuntu-testing and follow it step by step.
Then report your results on our tracker : http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com (login is the same as Brainstorm and other QA websites)
If you find a bug, report it : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs

Testing can be done in a virtual machine (Virtualbox for example) or on real hardware (preferred). As Hardy is still not in a final stage avoid doing install/upgrade on production computers.

Hi, Just to say - Installed

Hi, Just to say - Installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 on a USB Pen-drive. Works Excellent despite being ordinary speed (not fast enough for ReadyBoost in Vista). Quite quick boot up for USB 2. Problems include, sleep does not work - hybernate also does not work because there is not enough room on the pen-drive (3.6 GB Total with about 1GB to 800MB free)

If you are thinking of doing this, ie. installing Ubuntu on your USB pens, it can improve the battery longevity of your laptop, but only it seems if you remove your HDD. Another thing I reccomend, is if you have plenty of RAM, on 2 or more sticks, remove a few of the sticks, this seems to reduce the overall amount of life from the battery. (This may/will increase use of the pagefile / swap, and slow down the system, especially with slow flash memory, but realistically if you are doing this, you're only likely to be browsing the web or doing small-fry work anyway due to the storage constraints of USB pens)

Worth doing: For improved Batt life; Silent computing (on newer Dual core laptops), the sheer novelty of it.
