Announcing the Next Ubuntu Testing Day: Proposed Stable Release Updates for Hardy LTS

We are pleased to announce the next Ubuntu Testing Day will be next Monday, June 22nd.

What is the focus of this testing day?

With the upcoming 8.04.3 point release, this testing day will focus on verifying proposed Stable Release Updates (SRUs) for hardy. We'll be testing packages that have outstanding fixes in the hardy-proposed queue, verifying that the fixes actually solve the issues and ensuring that they do not introduce any new regressions, so that packages can be released to the hardy-updates archive and included in the 8.04.3 release. See Performing SRU Verfication for more details.

Who can join the Testing Day?

Everyone. You don't need to be a developer. You don't need to know how to code. Everyone is welcome. If you don't know how to help, then just stop on by and we'll explain everything to you. In fact, one of the objectives of the Testing Day is to help people willing to start testing Ubuntu to make it better.

In particular, there are a few outstanding issues related to specific hardware:

  • Sony Walkman NWZ-S618F doesn't get mounted (LP: #209483)
  • Apple Aluminum wireless keyboard misidentification (LP: #227501)
  • Kernel panic on boot if SMP with ASUS M3A-H/HDMI motherboards (LP: #292619)
  • SiS 190/191 network cards don't work with ASUS P5SD2-VM motherboards (LP: #247889)
  • Control key "stuck" after resume on Dell 1420n laptops (LP: #213988)
  • ALPS touchpad not recognized in Dell Latitude E6400 laptops (LP: #330885)
  • Partition Table is cleared during install on Intel Macs (LP: 222126)
  • Broadcom 'wl' wifi driver update (LP: #372425, LP: #292450)

If you have any of the above hardware, testing the proposed fixes would be greatly appreciated. However, everyone is encouraged to participate to ensure that in fixing the above bugs and more, there hasn't been any new bugs introduced in the process.

Where to join the Testing Day?

Come to #ubuntu-testing on freenode IRC. Normal testing activity takes place in #ubuntu-testing at other times also.
